Check this one out! Ya like? This is my latest AR15 5.56 project, Summer 2024...
CODENAME: Reese
Going for a custom "stealthy" look with a 16" (1:8 twist barrel on this one) AR, I mixed things up a bit this time, and went with the new Diamondback Firearms Obsidian upper and Black Gold lower. I love the way the Obsidian upper looks, especially the new muzzle brake. It really sets things off well...
UPDATE 12/11/2024: I have since changed over to a Magpul grip and stock on this project, and moved my BCM Gunfighter grip & SOPMOD stock to my Ruger SFAR .308 project...updated pics coming soon to this page.
I knew if I could find the right foregrip, this rifle would sing. It was found in the Strike Industries MLOK LINK Angled HandStop with Cable Management System (see below). It works well for the overall look I was going for with this project. Bonus, it's light in weight.
Here's the Diamondback Firearms Black Gold stripped lower, brand new, with the Palmetto State Armory Micro Dagger receiver that came the same day...
For the sharpest, cleanest look, there won't be any pressure pad and wiring on this rifle for the light.
It came out just as I envisioned. The lines are right, and feels so nice to hold. Not too heavy, actually lighter than anticipated, and balances-out extremely well. She's a winner!
The Microbest chrome bolt carrier group is A+++. Man, this thing runs super smooth in the new Obsidian upper. Will definitely be buying more these as replacements on my other ARs. In fact, for $140, they will be my go-to BCG for future, too, for the time being. Picked mine up from ArfTac. Link below.
You'll notice a small section of picatinny rail on the bottom of the handguard. I added this, as I do on most projects with M-LOK handguards. It allows not only the mounting of accessories, like a bipod, but is also used a prop to protect the underside of the handguard from abrasion when "prop'n-up" or resting it on structures while plinking.
Blue Force Gear Vickers Sling in black tops it off.
The Diamondback Black Gold lower and their new Obsidian upper is solid, guys. If you have never tried out Diamondback Firearms, and are looking for a good value AR, or a good base to start a new project with, I definitely recommend Diamondback.
Will the barrels last 20,000 rounds? No. Will I ever shoot 20,000 rounds from it? No. 5,000 rounds, and I'm already shoppin' for a new barrel anyway.
Looks XXTRA TITTIE (o)(o) with a 40-round Magpul. 🤣🍺🤣
This is one project that keeps my eyes on it...
